At Gekoglass in Scarborough, we have been selling beautiful blown glass pieces since 2014. Blown glass is a type of glass that is handmade using a blowing iron to shape molten glass into a bubble. At the end of their working day traditionally Glass Blowers would use up the molten glass by blowing these small ornamental globes. These were then given as a token of friendship on special occasions. The process has been used since the 1st century and has recently been made popular by the TV show Blown Away and the ancient tradition of giving globes as gifts is still carried on today.
